EPDM/PTFE diaphragm

Polytetrafluoroethylene is a polymer compound obtained by polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene, and has excellent chemical stability, corrosion resistance, sealing property, high lubricating non-stick property, electrical insulation property and good anti-aging property. Used as engineering plastics, it can be made into PTFE tubes, rods, strips, plates, films, etc. PTFE has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, its friction coefficient is extremely low, so it can be used for lubrication, and can also be applied to corrosion-resistant pipes, vessels, pumps, valves, etc. with high performance requirements.

PTFE diaphragms are very well suited for use in hygienic applications because of their excellent chemical and thermal resistance and their good compatibility with hot and cold water as well as alkalis and concentrated acids.Unlike an elastomer,it does not revert to its original shape following deformation due to its chemical inertness. The material has a tendency towards flow distension, which means there is distortion under stress, also known as cold flow。A small degree of flow distension means that PTFE seals can fit better to a given mating surface than most other plastic seals. However, the sealing surface might be damaged if the PTFE is excessively deformed due to temperatures above 130℃ or frequent temperature fluctuations(heating/cooling),and it will bring possible leaks
